London Area Book Club - 27 June, 2009
« on: May 21, 2009, 05:13:20 PM »
The next London area Book Club meeting will be 27 June at 15:00.  We will be meeting at Caffe Nero, in Chiswick. It is located at 386 Chiswick High Road, Chiswick  W4 5TF .  It's located near the Sainsburys, between Chiswick Park and Turnham Green tube stations, on the 267 bus route.

We have narrowed the book down to 3 selections, and will let the group decide which one we will be discussing.  The choices are:

The Audacity of Hope
The Duchess
The Ghost

The poll will be open for one week, giving us time to select the book and then read it before the 27th.

As always, new faces and new opinions are warmly welcomed!

Is there no way that one can be made midweek one month?

I am not sure if we're going to make it because of a previous invite (which I forgot was that day until we were reminded today).  Mr. A might not want to go to the previous engagement, so we still might be able to make it.  I do want to make a book club meeting soon, so if we don't make this one, I definitely will make the next barring some sort of emergency.

Wow...that week went by fast.  The book will be "The Ghost" by Robert Harris.

Vicky, one of the main reasons we meet on the weekend is that it is easier to find a meeting place that doesn't mean we have to buy a meal just to have a space to meet.  It really is not because we don't want you there.  I promise.

Heheheh, fair enough!

I didn't realise that was the problem.  Why didn't you ask me?  I am sure I can find a nice little pub with a nook that we can sit in to chat.

Maybe for July?

Vicky-a nice nook for a discussion would be terrific!  Probably toward the end of the month would be good as far as a date, since our current meeting is at the end of June.

When you find something suitable, then we start collecting suggestions for the July book.  It is never too early to try and get into everyone's calendar!

Oh!  If we can do this mid-week ever, I'm totally in.  Weekends are hard, but I had a book club at home with my girlfriends that was really fun and I miss it.
