WoW!  Thanks so much for all the info.
I will try out the suggestions.  Also, if anyone is interested I found another website:
http://www.skyco.uk.com
They offer a wide range of American products.  Rootbeer being one of them.  :)  The cost is a bit high for a few of the items, but other are very reasonable, I think.  The things we go through for craving!   :P

I've used skyco and their very nice to work with and quick with their shipping. Tha't where I get canned pumpkin, etc. And I think they're the ones who allow you to combine orders with other people, so if you can find another expat living near you you can place an order together to save on shipping!

From one Root beer connoisseur to another - the Sainsbury's Root beer and Cream Soda are downright DISGUSTING. They are utter blasphemy. I have never found RB here that was anything like the real thing. If you have a real craving Id say go for the genuine stuff and pay the price. After all - root beer floats ARE priceless. Mmm... *desperate for a RB float now*. Oh and apparently the A&W Restaurants serve Root Beer and RB Floats. Good stuff to, I hear. There was a post all about it a while ago.

You should never kepp your cravings to yourself.  :)  I was dying for one thats why I asked about the rootbeer, and now I am willing to go to the ends of the earth, or at least pay a small fortune, for proper A & W rootbeer.  Anything to get my fix.    [smiley=hug.gif]  I keep telling myself its a silly craving only because I am preggo, but I think it is a truly selfish, gotta have thing.  Either way, its got to happen.  :)

I can see it now.  Mindy and Stacey wandering the streets of Guildford begging shopkeepers to make them a Rootbeer float.   :)

I'm really wondering if my tastebuds are just not as "sharp" as others' - because everytime someone says that the UK *equivalent* of a US product isn't as good, I start wondering why I haven't noticed it...I'm quite happy with the cream soda and root beer at Sainsbury's.  As well as the Oreos I get at Sainsbury's and the beef here in the UK and, well lots of other things... :-\\\\
