ILR planning and questions thread
« on: July 15, 2023, 10:18:12 AM »
Hi all, I realised this week that due to a reissue of my second FLR(M) BRP I actually could have applied for ILR back in April but luckily haven't missed my deadline of August 29th. With the news of increasing visa charges I'm keen to get this application in as quickly as possible. I will be doing super priority. Bolding questions to make them more clear :) To start with, can anyone share a guide which covers the order in which I complete each step? A link to the actual application would also be great as I'm currently stuck in circles on the UK gov website!

I also had major issues with my BRP delivery last time and haven't moved so I'm worried about the same issues occuring. If I apply now, will I get a physical BRP card or is it all digital now?
Do I still need to scan and upload any documents with Super Priority, or will I attend something in person where I bring the documents?

I'm working on collecting documents this weekend and plan to have the following ready, if anything is missing or incorrect can that please be highlighted?:
Application Documents
- Applicant's passport.
- Applicant's old passport used when moved to the UK
- Signed sponsor's declaration (I assume I can't get this and print until after I've formally started the application?).

Proof of Identity/Travel History
- Sponsor's UK passport.
- Applicant's BRP card.

Finances
- 7 months of payslips
- 7 months of bank statements showing payslips being paid into my account (will be the same as some of the joint mail evidence).
-Letter from my employer stating my contract type (perm), length of service and salary

Residence in the UK
Accommodation:
- Land Registry document (owned property)
- latest mortgage statement
- latest council tax bill

Cohabitation
7 pieces of joint mail, evenly spread over the past 2.5 years from at least 3 sources

Other
- Life in the UK Test reference number for online application
- Marriage certificate
Met: Aug 2013
Started Dating: Oct 2013
Engaged: Sept 2017
Online app submitted: 17 Oct 2017
Biometrics & mailed in: 20 Oct 2017
Received by Sheffield: 23 Oct 2017

@mbmoffat has an excellent thread which covers the procedure. https://talk.uk-yankee.com/index.php?topic=100139.0

I think your list looks good.

That guide is perfect, thanks @larrabee !

I'm working on the application now and have come across a question I'm not 100% sure how to answer: How long have you lived in the UK?

I came in on a fiance visa, then did FLR(M). Should I be counting from the date I landed in the UK on a fiance visa (not contributing to my 5 year settlement route) or the date my first FLR(M) was approved (the start of my 5 year route)?

I've almost completely filled out the application online and am now collecting paperwork so everything is ready. I still have these questions outstanding, and one new one I would love help with before I submit:

1. If I apply now, will I get a physical BRP card or is it all digital now?

2. Is document scanning at my appointment available with Super Priority or do I have to upload online?

4. On the "Choose a service" step of the online application, I am given only one option:

Select a service from the options below. You will not be able to change this after you have submitted your application.
(Required)

Standard service : pay 2404.00 GBP, most people get a decision within 6 months of submitting their on-line application

I would like to do super priority. Is this the page in the application I need to keep refreshing on? If so, once I select the super priority do I immediately book an appointment?  I'm not able to skip work this Tues-Thurs so I want to avoid going too far in the application and being stuck with an only appointment options that I can't make.

1. If I apply now, will I get a physical BRP card or is it all digital now?

The BRPs won't be going digital until 1st January 2025, so you will get a BRP when you apply, but it will only be valid until 31st December 2024... and then it will go digital.

2. Is document scanning at my appointment available with Super Priority or do I have to upload online?

You can add document scanning and/or checking when you book your biometrics appointment on the UKVCAS website if you want to.

The Super Priority part is purchased on the UKVI website when you submit the online application, whereas the biometrics appointment and any added services (like document scanning) are purchased on the UKVCAS website after you have applied online.

Count from the date you landed in the UK on the fiance visa, as that is the full amount of time you have lived in the UK under the partner route.

Yes, if it is not currently giving you the option to add Super Priority, you will need to keep checking the submit page until Super Priority shows up.

The super priority slots are released at 1 am every night and they sell out almost immediately, so you'll want to log in at 1 am each night until the option shows up.

As long as you don't officially submit and pay for the visa, you won't go too far in the application... if you pay the ILR fee without getting super priority, you cannot add it later.

At this stage, though you are only paying for the Super Priority service itself, which is added on to your appointment when you attend it. You don't actually choose an appointment date until after you have paid for the visa and super priority, and you have registered on the UKVCAS website (free appointments are released at 9 am each day, while paid appointments are released at midnight).

Just as an update-
I applied on Sunday morning at 1am- snagging myself a super priority application submission. I have my biometrics tomorrow with scanning service. Thanks so much @ksand24 for answering my questions so I could get to this point! All documents in order, so now I just have to get through the appointment and un-patiently wait for a result!
