The grammar and punctuation here is *appallingly* poor.  Did this come from a Vice Consul?

Not to mention they are vastly overstating the law making powers of the Home Office!

I had again reiterated my request for their manual today and this was the Embassy's reply...

As requested earlier, please take this up with the Home Office in the UK. They can provide you with full details as they are the ones that determine the laws and eligibility criteria.

Here is the note I received this morning from the JCWI. I am not sure she understood all my questions. I had spelled out my situation and had specifically asked about my grandfather's Crown Service. I am going to have to try again, I think...

Thank you for your query.

From 30 April 2003, section 13 of the Nationality, Immigration and Asylum Act 2002 came into force.  This section enables certain persons born between 1961 and 1983 to apply for full British citizenship.

You must meet requirements outlined in IND – GUIDE UKM supplied with application Form UKM

Please note that if the application is successful, you will be treated as obtaining British Citizenship by descent.  This means that children born to you outside the UK will not acquire British citizenship.

Application forms are now available from the following link to the Home Office Website: Application form

Guide UKM

Application form UKM

Information leaflet BN13

http://www.ind.homeoffice.gov.uk

Before submitting the application, it is very important to read the attached Home Office guide for the documentary evidence required, how to fill in the form and where to submit the application.

However, we wish to advise you that as your mother acquired her citizenship by descent, she will not be entitled to register as a British citizen under section 13 of the Nationality, Immigration and Asylum Act 2002 via completion of UKM application form.

Finally, we would be grateful if you could spare a few moments to answer the following questions, which we collate for funding requirements.

1.         Are you male or female?

2.         Do you have a disability?

3.         Where do you live? (if outside the UK please indicate which country)

4.         What is your ethnic origin?

This is all that the JCWI had to offer.... :(.

In response to your email dated 22 March 2005, we wish to advise you that you are not eligible to register as a British citizen via the UKM.  This is because your mother acquired her citizenship by descent and not by birth in the UK.

They did not address any of my questions..this after a second note to them.

May have to start looking for other alternatives for getting over to the UK. I am disappointed. I thought they could/would offer some more help.

That is disappointing news.  Any idea what you'll do next?
When I am grown-up I will understand how BEAUTIFUL it feels to administrate my life effectively.

Until then I will continue to TORCH all correspondence that bores me and to dance NAKED over the remnants of its still glowing embers.
