skyauction.com....has anyone used this site??
« on: October 14, 2005, 11:59:01 PM »
Someone told me about this site but they have never used it. I went and had a look and the flights seem stupidly cheap. I was wondering how it works.....why is it so cheap?.....do you get to choose what day/time you fly etc?...are there any hidden catches?

Any input here would be greatly appreciated....thank you

Stay safe
Jules

It sounds like one my friend in the US told me about....you have to be willing to fly anytime and do however many layovers it takes to get to your destination. You don't get to pick times or airlines..just your dates you are willing to travel... you must be flexiable!!!

aahhhh...thanks MeShell....i thought there might be a catch. I dont think that will work for me.

I found another discount flight site. I was wondering if anyone had ever heard or used them?

1-800-FlyEurope.com

They are not as cheap as skyauction but still much cheaper for oneway flights than most places and they show specific dates and times.

Thanks peedal that was great :D

So let me get this straight. If you win the bid for a ticket that is valid within a 2 month window, you then get to choose what flight you want out of those times and dates available?

I will need a ticket that flies out only in the afternoon and on one of 5 days....do you think my needs are too specific for skyauction?

btw....i can see you REALLY like this company lol    Do you have shares in the company lol  ;)

I've used 1800FlyEurope for almost all of my flights to the UK and just bought my one way ticket with them yesterday. The prices have all been good, flights are on major airlines and you can usually tell which flight belongs to which airline if you've been searching for a while. Any other questions, just let me know.

What I really really liked about skyauction as opposed to other auction sites is that if they can't get you the dates you want - within reason - you don't *have* to purchase the tickets.  I read it very very thoroughly!

They were incredibly nice to me and very accommodating when the kids and I had to go get our visas in NY, as well.  I can't imagine any other *on-line* site giving that kind of personal service.  (Including the recommendation of an excellent Indian restaurant in NY!)

There's nothing like GREAT customer service. That was something i noticed after i started going to the States....for the most part people are really big on customer service  over there....something us Brits could learn a lot from.
