oh man...this is a tough one to read on the Atkins diet lol.    :'(

The first time I had cheese on toast my husband (who does not cook) made it...and it was lovely.  Once or twice a year we'll head to the store together (usually late at night) and pick out the ingrediants, go home, and he'll make it again.  Much snuggly fun.  :)

This is just a one-piece grilled cheese. Gareth eats this every night I don't want to cook! He used French bread too. Isn't that un-British of him? LOL

My mother uses two pieces of bread.  She makes it in a small frying pan and calls it a "toasted cheese sandwich".

HAHAHAHAHAHAAAA...! [smiley=laugh3.gif]

that was my original thought...  that a "toasted cheese", or "grilled cheese" sandwich can be such a delicacy...

but now, after reading all of these yummie ways of preparing them (w/welsh rabbit, and other yummie cheeses, etc) i guess i can see why people dig them.

i still think it's funny though...  :)

Right!  This is specially to torment Rhiannon!:-   ;)

Why not try cheese on 'gypsy toast'!
1.  Make gypsy toast as per recipe at for example:

http://www.netcooks.com/recipes/Breakfast/Gypsy.Toast.html

2.  Make cheese topping, spread, grill, as per my recipe suggestions in my post above.

Excellent for the soul on these dark and dismal mid-winter days but not very good for the body: a recipe from Coronary County!!!!

 Well ta Howard :)

Sounds yummy and I tell you, just add some maple syrup and /or powdered sugar and you will have our french toast   ;D ;D

If no maple syrup you could use Lyles Golden Syrup or something like it .Of course you would skip on the cheese etc.... unless you was preggy  like Marlespo maybe :P

I like to know how "French toast" started in the US?Water thought that I was loopy when I told him about it  :o :D
