In the past some merchants had the attitude "increase the price, they will pay it" I'm after these people now.

My next goal is to reduce my PC provider expense. I can go to dial up for about $5 a month.

I want to go to satellite TV and be able to cancel cable but DW doesn't want to hear of it.

I'm open to using a cell phone company to get on-line with my laptop. I'm just trying to learn whats involved right now.

Yup. We even started shopping at Lidl. The rest came from Asda.

We love Lidl!  But there are some things we just won't (or even can't) get from Lidl, so the rest does come from Asda.

Pay cash over cc will help .
Absolutely!  Amazing how much more you will spend with the plastic.
I do miss all the Oxfams and other charity shops in the UK.  I used to shop them regularly for clothing, books, household items.  Some things people donate are brand new or else you can find something vintage and get it cleaned or wash it yourself, change a few buttons maybe and voila!  Picked up some great hand knit sweaters.  At work I was known as a "snappy" dresser and I'd just say "Got it at Oxfam!"  ;D  But in the US there's only the Salvation Army type places or more pricey consignment shops.  Never had much luck with those.
Come spring we're hitting the yard sales.

We spend more than I would like, but sine we have no car the only shop we can get to is Tesco.  So no real shopping around for us, plus there is no Lidl anywhere near by, although there is an Aldi on the outskirts of town.

We're not really cutting back, but then we never spent that much to begin with.  I earned and lived off of 9,000/year while in AmeriCorps, so I am used to not buying stuff.
