thanks everyone!  I looked into my county clerk, and found something an absentee affidavit..that I could probably use, if we choose to go this route.  Then there are tons of non denominational ministers who will come marry you on the weekend.   ;D

Not sure how much help this will be.. As Jodie mentioned you can get married in Florida really easily with no waiting period. You can also apply for the FL marriage license by mail as long as you can have a notary stamp the form with both of you present (it looks as tho you are visiting your fiance in a few days....) You can then find someone to marry you anywhere you choose on a Saturday. I just got married in the courthouse in Orlando last Friday and I was surprsied at how quick and easy it was! Anyway its just another option!! :)

Here are a couple of websites (incase you or anyone else is interested!)

I was planning on getting married in Texas last year, and from my research I'm pretty sure that Texas requires a 3-day waiting period between getting the license and getting married (can be waived by a judge, but usually only done in cases of military deployment and the like).  Trying to do everything on one weekend isn't really an option if you're staying in Texas, I think.

This is true... in Texas, both parties have to be present to apply for the certificate and you must wait 72 hours from the time you get the certificate to get married. The only time they will do the absentee affidavit is in cases of military deployment or incarceration, as far as I know. You may check some neighbouring states, though - the laws in Lousiana, Oklahoma, or Arkansas might be different and all three are easily accessible from Dallas, as you know!
