And there are definitely no unicorns in Bracknell Forest (the Dark Woods)

I don't believe that there are any Harry Potter related shops or merchandise in or around Alnwick Castle where the movies were filmed. There are no witch and wizard shops anywhere around here, and nothing Harry Potter related in the gift shop I went into in the castle's gardens. I haven't actually been inside the castle but I seriously doubt they would have anything Harry Potter related in there. Sorry if that's a serious disappointment to anyone!

No, but there is a Pottergate street in Alnwick, which was, of course, named after Harry Potter.  [smiley=lipsrsealed2.gif]

Don't they even sell wands in the gift shop?!  :o

I went to Alnwick once.  Now mind you I'm a HUGE Potter fan so to me standing on the same grounds where they filmed Quidditch classes was really awesome.   They also had a tour of all things Harry Potter there.

Is this thread horribly off topic now?  :D

;D If this is the case, I can tell you it's about 400 miles northeast of London and 60 miles south of the border of Scotland and the train ride takes about 4 hours from London and just over an hour from Edinburgh. I don't believe that there are any Harry Potter related shops or merchandise in or around Alnwick Castle where the movies were filmed. I thought Hogwart's was set in Scotland in the books. Was Alnwick where it was filmed? That is surprising they haven't taken advantage of that.

Now I'm thinking OP needs directions to Hogwarts. :)

Just needs to catch the train at Platform 9 3/4 or was it 9 1/2?

Ah ok. Shows what I know. Never seen or read HP. Would never have made that connection! lol

I read the first two. Only because the then DW and kids were reading them and then we were to see the film (s). I saw the first one. I would say they were worth it. Though I am not into these wizards and things, I did find them interesting . I did lose interest further down the Potter highway and just could not get into the other ones. Not sure if there was too much going on in my life, not enough time or what. It's probably worth seeing one or two of the films or reading a book or two, if for anything, just so ya add to the trivia sectors of the brain.  ;D

They used Gloucester Cathedral for interior shots in the films of the first 2 books (Philosopher’s Stone & Chamber of Secrets)

I haven't read the books, though I have seen a few of the films, and I don't know all that much about it, but I do know some parts of the movies were filmed at Alnwick Castle.

I'm not sure why it was necessary to mock someone who for all we know is just naive and unexperienced.

I don't know what the OP is looking for, either, but for those of you looking for HP related places, Tim got me a book called "Searching for Harry Potter" or something like that where the author went and found places that could have been the places mentioned in the books. It's really neat,
