Hi Bored Brit! Welcome to the forum! I think you need a holiday!

Why not take a holiday in the US - just as a starting point? It'd be a bit of the adventure you're seeking & gets you over there for a little while.
I agree with those who have said you might have a hard time getting a work visa for the US. Believe it or not, it's not easy to immigrate over here (to the UK) and it's even harder to immigrate to the US.
If you're looking to meet American women, I'm sure there must be websites out there - dating websites, penpal websites, British men & American websites - there's a website for just about everything! Lol!
Or if nothing else, how about seeing a little more of this fine country right here (yes oop norf & all)? And I'm surprised that no one has mentioned taking a look at this thread yet:

And, life in the US really isn't
Friends. There's also a lot of really poor people there, health care is super-duper expensive unless you have insurance, public transport can be fairly non-existent apart from the large cities, generally speaking - most people don't tend to get very many annual leave days from work, and many of us (who are living happily over here in the UK) feel that US may have the work/life balance wrong. Lots of threads on here about the Pros & Cons of the US vs the UK.
Lots of stuff to think about!
