I have a few questions that I haven't been able to find a definitive answer on via my best friend, Google. I'm going to be going to a community college next year and I've been doing a LOT of soul searching lately and trying to figure out what I really want to do. Originally I did want to become a Speech Pathologist, but after thinking about it for a few weeks I've changed my mind.
I've already been interested in Computer 3D Animation for a long time and everyone has always told me I should get involved in something creative, something artistic because I have a huge artistic background. However, I always shut the thought down from anyone that mentioned it because I just thought there is no realistic way I can make a lot of money that way. Now I'm really thinking about my life, the only one I'll ever have, I don't want to solely focus on getting a massive amount of money in exchange for being rather miserable/not real happy with my career.
So, I looked into my college and they have a Fine Arts program that will prepare you for careers in Animation, it is for two years and you can chose to go on to a four year school. Now, my boyfriend and I want to get married soon, and as soon as he has a better paying job the plan is to get me over there to be with him. I know that him searching for a better job, and actually getting one that pays 18,600 pounds can take a lot of time, but I was thinking, if he finds one, what if I'm in college at the time? (Yes, I know college and uni are different things in the UK. But I'm talking about university)
Or what if after just finishing my two years of schooling, we
finally qualify for a visa where I can make the move, would a Fine Arts Degree transfer over there? Would the degree I earned be worthless to get into a four year school in the UK? Or would I need to start all over again? Same as if I graduate from a four year school, would that transfer over? Should I be contacting the school and asking them? Because this is seriously something I worry about.. I was talking to my teacher and he's putting a massive amount of pressure on me to learn faster then I am (even though I study at home a lot and I'm really trying my hardest) saying that I'm getting too old (I'll be 21 this month) and that after I hit a certain age universities will not be as interested in me. Said that in front of the whole class, which was some nice humiliation. This whole situation is just a massive stress on me.
