When I think of all the pancakes I turned down as a kid..... :\\\'(  I never liked them until I was about 30. Now I love them. I must get some maple syrup and make some soon!!  Just wish I could find scrapple here!

Well, she was an American girl, raised on promises.
She couldn't help thinking that there was a little more to life, somewhere else.
After all it was a great big world, with lots of places to run to.
And if she had to die trying she had one little promise she was gonna keep.

I can make them from scratch, as they aren't difficult, but we often use the mix from Krusteaz that they sell at Costco.  It isn't bad, and it's super easy. We also buy big bottles of maple syrup there for a good price.

when I make pancakes here they don't turn out very well!  not sure what I'm doing wrong but unless I have my white lily flour from home I can't make pancakes.  Probably a blessing in disguise though...

I've never understood the need for pancake mix! I swear I once saw some pancake mix that said "just add egg and milk" - so basically flour then!

The secret to 'light fluffy' pancakes is.....buttermilk! No joke; it really does make a difference. In this case do not use the 'add vinegar to milk' substitute. It has to be the real thing.

I agree - making pancakes is one of the easiest things you can do for breakfast. Aldi sells maple syrup for a decent price. Small bottle, but a little goes a long way flavor-wise.

I love making pancakes for my American husband. I've got my eye on a recipe for mint choc chip pancakes, they sound fantastic  :P

I've never tried bacon with pancakes so I might have to have a go at that soon too. I just wish good maple syrup wasn't so pricy!

I'll say again that if there's a Costco near you, they have syrup for a good price. I've also heard that the Aldi stuff isn't you'll bad.
