If you have the money I'd definitely do the one day service. I definitely regretted not using it. That said, my application was very simple as we had all the paperwork and used the savings route, so just 6 bank statements to check. But you never know and the standards does say 6 months.

10 weeks is great.  I would have seriously considered post if I had known.  £590 is a lot of money for the honour of spending a full day at a Croydon government office!   ;D

But as my ILR lined up with renewing our mortgage, I know I made the right choice, as we've saved a lot each month.
