Anyone done USA-France-UK ??

no. there is VAT for commercial sale pets i think, but no fees at customs.  the fees listed at airports are for handling the animal, cause dogs can't ride as checked luggage with the owner, they have to fly cargo into the uk, which means someone has to get the dog, transport it to the animal holding center, where it is checked and held till the owner can retrieve it. that's what those fees are, not just "passing customs".

the tunnel charges 19 pounds for a dog one way (must stay in car). you check in the dog before leaving, which is the customs check (they also check my visa before i head over there apparently, so arrival you're already done).

While i absolutely have nothing against dogs (cats), I am horribly allergic to their dander. On a scale of 1-6 (6 being an anaphylactic shock), I register a 5. So unless your dog (cat) is hypoallergenic (poodles, some breeds of terriers, maltese, etc.) I wish people would be more considerate before taking their pets in the plane cabin, because some people can actually die or get horribly sick from being around them.

Just as an FYI you can contact an airline ahead of time to report a severe allergy, and then remind them of it when you check in and again when you get on the plane. That way they can ensure you're safe. I believe there are rules governing that where they would have to put you in a different section of the plane if there was a dog on board. I have to do it every time I fly because of sometimes near anaphylaxis from chemicals & fragrance (small amounts = migraine, sometimes asthma but some like axe sprayed in a small space I would likely need my epi pen.) I feel grateful when I get a seat upgrade but it's annoying because it usually follows not being able to breathe and taking a lot of meds.

so after a ton of research and hassle cause IcelandAir put "inaccurate" information on their website (their weight cut off level is 70lbs, not 88lbs), looks like i'll have to fly into germany via condor air, then train from germany to paris, then friends are picking me up in paris...

do i need a eu pet health certificate in german if i'm flying into germany?  i checked the USDA website, and under germany pet transport, they offer the standard english certificate... so i assume it's ok to just do english.  just wanted some clarification.

If you're flying Condor into Germany, I would suggest emailing the airline and asking specifically. Each country is different - I've heard numerous times with people who fly with their pet in cabin to France, that when they arrived, no one even checked their papers... they just got off the plane and went on their merry way. Germany might be more stringent in their paperwork checks and they might want you to send paperwork over in advance so that they can do a preapproval (I did this flying into Heathrow with my dog). The airline should be able to give you accurate information though. If they can't, look up whichever airport you are flying into to see if they have any additional info!
