The way I see it, the consular birth record is simply a record. It’s a nice to have, say, 100 years from now, when somebody is trying to trace their ancestry. It doesn’t serve any legal purpose or claim to British citizenship.

With my son’s UK passport application we also had to submit his British grandfather’s birth certificate & marriage certificate. I didn’t see these docs in your list.

We received a letter from HMPO because we didn’t submit these docs in our original application. But then got my son’s passport mailed to us in the States 2 weeks after submitting the missing docs. Wondering why your application is taking so long.

They never told us any of the documentations that are missing until a week ago.  Every time my husband checked online and called them they said it’s processing.  They only asked for the three documents I listed here so hopefully after that’s been sent it will all process smoothly.

The application would have just been waiting in the queue until then. They won't have been aware of what you sent or didn't send until they actually started to process it which was when they sent you the request.
