Burnahm Beeches in Burnahm near Slough, yeah?  We're going to a quiz night there on Saturday.

Christmas day Nicola gets to go to work and I am on call, yay for us.  Then off to see her mum and family in Kent on Boxing Day.

We may be going to Barcelona for our anniversary (Jan. 7) complements of very cheap easyjet flights.
Then, we may, finances allowing, go out to Thailand in March and meet up with brother-in-law and girlfriend.  It'll be a long flight to Bangkok if we go.  Never flown for more than 10 hours, maybe we'll have to do the Qatar stopover.

We haven't really decided yet. Maybe we will have to go to Scotland on business.

It's back to my girlfriend's parents in Germany. We skipped this last year to spend the period on the French med to catch some sun. But she feels guilty about missing the holidays, so I'm dutifully going. It beats the nation-wide shut-down in the UK though.

The pole closed yesterday - thank you to all the folks who contributed and / or voted on this thread.

It seems that people are either staying at home or flying "the pond" .... in about equal numbers.  With a minority (but a not insignificant minority) holidaying somewhere hot or cold.   A busy travel season for the airlines, by the sound of things.

Last week was thanksgiving and there were 8 of us around the table, and over the weekend we were up to a dozen here as we celebrated Geekmas. December is now just a couple of days away - I guess I should start thinking cards, gifts, etc .... and planning for my Christmas!

I'm going home to beautiful, scenic Long Island for the holiday.  I'm not thrilled about it, and I *really* can't afford it, but it's the first Christmas since my grandmother passed away, and my mother isn't coping with it very well.  So, I will be the good daughter.

Ooh, I'm from (and currently on) LI myself - whereabouts are you from, Nassau or Suffolk?

Sorry about your grandmother.
