I've been there several times, the first year was great. Not only did they have the flag raising and presentation of a turkey (dead & plucked) to the commander of the US Navy, but they had a ship that was similiar to the Mayflower. Upon presentation of any US ID, you could board the ship and go to a fabulous cocktail party which was sponsored by the Plymouth Gin co. and Dartington Glass,,,needless to say, I had a GREAT time there! Both companies also gave away gift bags with bottles of gin and commemorative paperweights. The last few that we've been too haven't been that good, but then we haven't been to the dinner/dance. The brunch was quite nice, very informal but it was fun. Last year we just went to the flag raising and it seemed to be a little low key, although it seemed like there were quite a few American visitors there. But if you haven't been to Plymouth before, it is well worth the trip, it's undergoing some major changing and is becoming a lovely little city!
