thank you all - i'm home and recovering from surgery, trying to turn my brain off, and taking the pain pills while i can. husband is being a dear, son is enjoying his time with daddy who lets him do anything he wants. :) thank you all for your kind words. 
I'm done moving. Unrepatriated back to the UK, here for good!
