I had a current account with the Bank of Scotland when I lived there, and just before I moved back to Canada I closed it down.
Now I am returning to Scotland and will need a bank account again. Will it make it easier for me to get a bank account if I used to have an account with them? I read about the great difficulties people have opening accounts, so I didn't know if this would help me in this instance.
I kept my bank statements as well; should I bring those with me to the UK to show the bank if I go to try to open an account?
Also, did having an account previously give me any kind of credit rating in the UK? Because I may want to get a credit card at some point and maybe I have built a little bit of credit already.
Thanks!
