Oddly enough, my being refused entry at one point never came up - didn't seem to care about that, just about the money issue.  He did ask me if I had sought work in England - I thought that was illegal?  I told him no, I hadn't, as I wasn't there legally yet.

He?

It was a man?

Garry -

Yes it was a man, he didn't give his name though, and I was too rattled to think of asking him.  If I supply them with my ss#, can't they access my work history?  Or is that a bad idea, as I get benefits?

Hey Suzie- that is totally understandable as to why he cannot come here. I am sure if you send them his parents recent statements and they are suffucient that it won't be a problem. Do you have to resubmit everything at this point? Would his parents be willing to cash in a bond for the two of you?

Good Luck and keep us all informed- any information I find that may be of help to you I will pass along

Suzie, did he sound like he was annoyed and had a bit of a chip on his shoulder? I got a call from a guy from the Chicago office for my fiance visa who did nothing but drill me about my finances, my now husband's finances and whether I would be seeking work when I came over. I wanted to scream at him - did you not look at ANY of the stuff I sent you?!?!?! I'm sending you good vibes.

Yes it was a man, he didn't give his name though,

Next time, please collect your thoughts and get his name.  "I'm sorry, I didn't get your name..."  Something like like...  The only man posted in Chicago who can do entry clearance is the HM Consul-General.

Suzie - they will want original statements.

Aeonix - if you can't get the most recent one they will overlook this, as it may not have been isssued yet.

Victoria, the man from the embassy gave me the fax # and a reference # - wouldn't that mean that in this case they will accept "unoriginal" documents?

does the issue of finances generally come up more with fiancee visas than with spousal ones?

bit concerned, as i'll just about have a zero balance as far as income & debts go. i'll quite literally be starting fresh. DF has been with parcel force 13 years now, and will provide savings & income statements.

should we be ok on the finance aspect?
