Need some grill help please!
« on: April 16, 2007, 08:33:19 PM »
We brought our american BBQ grill over with us when we came here, but the military movers would not let us bring our propane tank ... well we are having a heck of a time finding either an american tank over here (one store does sell them but has none in stock) ... we also can not find an adapter to go from a british propane tank to our grill ..

any help is appreciated!!! we miss grilling!!!

FYI we are located about 30 minutes west of cambridge in huntingdon ... but I will also order online if needed!

thanks :)

Isn't there an Exchange or a PX on your base?  If there is, they should have them.  I know they had in at the Exchange in Naples, Italy.

You can call Calor and ask them for help, they do a home delivery service, which is fantastic. You just call them and they bring the gas canister to your house! Fantastic!
I think also, you can probably buy a kit that includes all the gas tubing which you can probably just replace the existing tubes.

I hate to say it, but why not just buy a British one? I have one that I bought from B&Q, its gas, it probably cost like £100, it has 2 burners and its really nice!!!  Just last night I was out in the garden in my pajamas (I only BBQ in my pajamas) grilling 2 lovely rib eye steaks. Lovely Jubbley!!!

Thanks for both your thoughts!

Our BX does not sell tanks they only refill them ... so that doesn't work for us ...

We don't want to buy another grill as the one we have and brought with us was a really expensive, nice one ... we hate to just leave it sitting for three years!

I will try the Calor suggestion! Thanks so much :)

I had bookmarked this thread last year, because we were planning to move our grill.

The grill is now in England but I still haven't gotten around to getting it converted.  But it sounds fairly straightforward...  Good luck and if anyone does convert, please post results. Thanks!
