The Guardian reported that there were indeed more Brits than Yanks at the game.

Yes, something will have to be done about the pace of the game to get it to catch on here more. It's slow to watch live in the US, too!

I think the American traditions of cheerleaders, tailgating, and half time shows should stay. It's all part of the package!
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

I was listening to Sports Talk on medium wave and it was the BIG Liverpool Vs Arsenal game and the reporting of the Giants & dolphins game.

The presenters were mentioning about how slow the game is in real time/at the stadium - for TV breaks etc back in the US. One of em was like great atmosphere, lots of UK fans, hostory of the dolphins and the fact it's the first regular season game to be held outside of north america.
Then he spent 2 minutes talking about the cheerleaders!! trying not to sound as though he was staring at them and bemoaning why english soccer doesn't have the same during every game!!! I'd be very welcoming of 'cheerleaders' at every soccer match !!

Somewhere in my garden shed is my American football - must find it although it's probably deflated by now! I trained myself to throw the ball and used to get well boosted when I threw it with a perfect spin!

Cheers! DtM! West London & Slough UK!

I'm really, REALLY bummed about Miami this year. They used to be a good team. I heard on the news that a MILLION people applied for the ticket draw to see the game (I kid you not). I guess Brits are more interested in American football than they let on.  ;)

Yeh Vicky & Peedal,

I was trying to obtain tickets for this game about 3 weeks ago, almost had some but then it fell through!

Plus I had to be at our warehouse doing boring stuff like laying network cables and troubleshooting one of staff's pc's they'd kindly boll0cksed up during the week.. so i had Yahoo matchcast on another pc whilst I worked and then was able to finish up and leave about 15 mins into the 1st half!

I think Benitez needs to calm down on his rotation thing and allow some kinda 'settlement' - we always pull out a great performance against great opposition like 'Scum' and Arsenal etc..  but we always let easy points fritter away against lesser opposition...

oh well, I'll keep a lookout for tickets for the next 'good' liverpool game and I just want to be able to say my first soccer match to see live was at Anfield!

Oh yeh, Suzanne is correct, it was reported a million enquires came through for the tickets will an allocation of 90,000 i think it was - there is a strong following of USA football in the UK, I remember when Channel 4 used to show it late night sunday I think with their wicked channel 4 logo breathing and then the opening intro to the show using fa remixed frankie goes to Hollywood - two tribes theme (at least i think it was that!!)..... brilliant!
Thats also when I got my first American football egg and started learning how to throw it !
