I find the cord on my hairdryer here to be about 3 times as long as the one in the US. There's a plug in the hallway outside the bathroom and I can easily reach the mirror in there.
Ditto!

That said, before I got the hairdryer with the 3 meter cord, I used the mirror in the spare bedroom. Not a problem--rather nice, in fact, as the natural light was much better than in the bathroom and I could see to put my makeup on.

That's not really to be recommended, as flexible cords aren't intended to be installed as hidden permanent wiring.  Obviously it depends very much upon exactly how it's fitted, but cords run under mats, tucked under edging strips, behind trim and so on can deteriorate through rubbing and chafing.

No, no, it's not under anything per se.  There is this little lip under which the trim sits.  We ran a long cord on top of the trim fastened with those little cable clippy things you nail into the trim. When we move we will replace the trim. All tucked neatly but still accessible. Kind of hard to explain actually.

Call me a creature of habit, and I am coping, but I do miss being able to dry my hair in the bathroom.  It's easy, comfortable and familiar.  Having a vanity in the bedroom is nice but...  I'm just a simple gal at heart.   ;D

Hahaha!!! this is an old post but man you guys really do discuss EVERYTHING on this site! Fantastic! I was just thinking this last week that both my bathrooms don't have an outlet for my hair dryer.  I hate drying my hair in the bedroom as I don't have a vanity mirror and have no idea what I am doing. I thought it was just my place.
