When I first moved to the West Country in 1970, Glastonbury was a very strait-laced little country town, and hippies were a relatively new thing. Lots of tea-rooms had paper signs on the door which read "NO HIPPIES". Now, the hippies more or less run the place. All the cream-tea places I was barred from seem to have become aromatherapy studios or reflexology clinics.

Tim and I are such dorks. We're going to go to the Prime Meridian!

The parks are free to get into, you only have to pay if you want to see a planetarium show. We're both excited,as he's never been and we're both map geeks.

As many have mentioned great sites, I'm going to focus on places I've never been to but have heard are great or interesting.

West Wales north of Pembrokeshire up towards Snowdonia
Islands of Scotland including Orkney and Shetland
North York Moors
Yorkshire Dales
Whitby/Robin Hood Bay
Lindisfarne
North Norfolk Coast
I've never been to Suffolk but can't say I've heard of any overwhelming beautiful or outstanding locations although I'm sure there must be
Isle of Wight
Giant's Causeway/north N. Ireland coast
Isles of Scilly

although technically part of the UK but would like to see Channel Islands
And the world first spoke to me in Sensurround
