I used the soft Werthers toffees the other day to make Caramel Apples and they worked fine.  Melted them in a bowl over a pan of boiling water and added a bit of milk to get the consistency right.

i tried those last year, but the problem was that the candy kept sticking to the wrapper & making a big ol' mess! the sainsbury's cheapo ones were just as good as the werthers, taste-wise.

Just got home from Morrison's, saw some Carnation Caramel..... :P  .....and put it back.  I knew I would eat the entire can all by myself and then I'd be shopping for bigger clothes.

He he he, to think I've been able to stop myself from going to the fridge & constantly have a finger of squeezy caramel every 5 minutes.   ;)
