USA Bagels & Flavoured Cream Cheese! where to buy?

Hi all

My first post in 'food talk' !

I just tried to do a search and I can't find what I'm looking for and some links I did see that may have helped were from 5 years ago and broken.

Upon my many USA visits and seeing family etc, in the mornings I really love those Strawberry and Cinnamon flavoured cream cheese you can put on bagels.

Is there anywhere in the UK where I can get these flavoured cream cheese's from!? I cannot stand the usual philadelphia type stuff with boring plain and chives flavours!

Or is it a case I need to import the stuff!?

I'm afraid I've not seen flavoured cream cheeses here, other than chives and herbed flavours.

Have you thought about making your own? I'd have thought it could be as easy as mixing some cream cheese with whatever flavour jam or whatnot.

Yeah, you're gonna have to make it I'm afraid. I thought I recalled seeing Strawberry there once, but I'm not certain.

I'd think a good quality strawberry jam or conserve mixed in would be awesome.

My fave is not the fruit spreads, but the honey walnut cream cheese spread.  I love Panera's  version, but pretty much any will do.  In my wanting, I found a recipe here:  http://www.recipezaar.com/Honey-Walnut-Cream-Cheese-Spread-166528  I really need to try it now.  NOW.  

Panera used to do an unsweetened, or lightly sweetened I can't remember, chocolate cream cheese.  So good.

Dennis, I would think you could do as the others said and just mix some nice strawberry jam and a bit of ground cinnamon into the plain cream cheese, since it isn't a flavour they offer here. It would be nice to do an apricot one with apricot jam and some cut up dried apricots. Mmmm.

You mean you are all saying I'd have to make it?!!

I haven't got time to do that! plus..  I'm not sure of how to mix things into food.. 


Apparently, houses have a room in which food is prepared?..    a .. kitchen?  is that right?!   I'll see if our house has one...   then show the owners of that room this thread to see if they know more about it! ..

LOL, daft question!   

You could use a breadmaker to make the dough. 

At Some point, I'll have a look into this..

Not sure at this stage if there's any issues with customs etc - and also if any of the specialist food shops already import/stock the stuff!

If it turns out no one has it in the UK, and it's relatively easy to bring over, I may well do this !

Honestly DtM if you opened up your own import shop you've got access to insider trading tips on what items to sell.     However, I suspect customs and taxes are possibly a big part of the reason why import foods are so pricey.   

I used to work in a bagel place, and the flavored cream cheeses are really easy to make. I believe the strawberry was simply plain cream cheese mixed with pre-packaged strawberries in syrup (if you made it yourself, sliced strawberries in sugar left to sit a few hours). You could puree those a bit if you wanted it to be smoother.

My favorite was the raisin walnut.    Recently I've been wanting to make it, so I guess this is my sign that I should. It's just cream cheese, brown sugar, walnuts, and raisins. The raisins rehydrate, and it is just to die for.
