Sheesh, and we've met people who thought Lucie was strange...
I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I don't know the answer.

Eh, I think hippie-sounding names are cool (or you know, just unique names) like I was doing some paperwork once and the guy's name was Azure Sky. I just thought "how cool" instead of "WTF?"  :)

I wanted a 'hippie' name when I was a kid - one of the possible alternatives for me was sorta hippie-ish, because my sister and I were the only kids we know as children who weren't name Mellow Spring, Astara (the name came to the mother in a LSD trip prior to pregnancy), Raven, Tree, Prairie Rose and the like. And Indian inspired names for mostly white kids. I don't like my name particularly, but I think it isn't as dated as if I had had a hippie name.

I think it's important to go with something you like a lot and sometimes it's nice if it has extra meaning to you as a family.

I think an issue is something that works well in multiple cultures. We know a Swedish - British couple and they have chosen names that work equally well in both cultures.

I totally understand holding back on telling people because it is such a personal thing.

Good luck, whatever you decide.  :)
