Aimless, I don't have any advice, but I admire the way you are doing your homework and sticking up for yourself. I hope you find the answers and get things sorted soon. :)

Thanks, I appreciate the support. :)

Oh dear.
A friend of mine and my stepmother both have fibromyalgia.
VERY strange disease.

Interesting note w/in kbeech06's link re: Tricyclic antidepressants & SSRIs.
Regardless, you should have a doctor who is professional enough to explain the reason behind putting you on antidepressants.

If some miracle cure comes along, I will keep you in mind.
Or anything which eases this, for that matter.

Time for a new rhuemy if you ask me!!!   You shouldn't be given a medicine without a discussion of the pros and cons! How very unprofessional of her.
I hope you're feeling a bit better at least  :)

This.

I totally agree that it's essential for medical professional to explain treatment options and implications, a necessary part of the job.

Get PALS involved, if you need to. They may also be able to point you in the direction of any chartable groups that can provide support or contact your local DIAL (disability advice line) for fibromyalgia information in your area.

Good luck!  :)

I'm in the US, actually, but thanks for the suggestion and support. :) I went to a GP yesterday who a friend recommended and I'm cautiously optimistic that she's good. I felt like she was listening to me and not jumping to any one conclusion.

Duh, me!   :-[

But the sentiment is still there, if that counts for anything.  :)
