I played around with my brother's Kindle Fire and didn't really like it, tbh. It seemed like it was trying to be an ereader and a tablet and not doing either very well. It's clunkier than an iPad for the tablet functions, the screen isn't as big and it's less customizable. And while I love my Kindle Touch, I like that it has e-ink and a very long battery life.

I have an iPad and a Kindle Fire, and I agree that the Fire is less of a tablet, but it does the job.  If I have both, I would always choose the iPad to surf the net.  It's much less fiddly than the Fire for that.  But I would always choose the Fire to read books and watch videos.  And it also has internet, so I would generally take it with me on a trip over the iPad.

I really want a e-book reader for a trip we are taking soon, but of course all the new ones are being released a week after we leave. Ahhhhh!
