Divorce
« on: November 26, 2012, 01:24:25 PM »
Hi,

My husband is American and married me and moved here to Wales UK in 2008.

He now has ILR.

Unfortunately our marriage has broken down beyond repair and we are getting a divorce and he will move back to America.

I've never done anything like this before so has anyone been in this situation that can guide me through the process, tell me where to get the forms etc please?

As he is American, is there anything extra or specific we need to do or is it the same process as getting a divorce generally?

Are there any fees involved?

Is Denver generally a nice area to live as he has been thinking about moving there but will be starting from scratch and I just want to support him as best I can.

Many thanks

Sorry to hear about your impending divorce.  I'm afraid I can't help with the most important of your questions, but I can say that Denver (and surrounding areas) is a lovely place to live.  However, there are rough places like every city, and the good areas are very sought after, so it isn't the cheapest place to live.

Best of luck to you both.

I'm very sorry about your divorce.  I don't know anything useful about divorce in the UK, but, like mirrajay, I can report that Denver is a very nice place to live.  My impression from visiting, and from friends who live there, is that there are lots of opportunities for a wide variety of outdoor activities.  If your husband likes to be outdoors year-round, it could be a good place for him.

Good luck as you move forward.
