Yup, that's it exactly. Dirty Queso of deliciousness.

Well the dirty queso you posted a picture of looks yummy! I'm sure I could happily indulge in that!!!  ;D

Suppose I would be like Mrs R in that I liked it as a child, but I bet if I ate it now I wouldn't.
It wasn't a staple in our house because most of the time we had good old government cheese. It tasted a lot like Land O Lakes american cheese and came in a big block.
Now one thing I have not lost my taste for are saltines-especially oyster crackers.
Oh yeah, government cheese.  Had a fair bit of that in my life -that's what my school(s) cafeteria made their grilled cheeses with ,and those were very yummy -dipped in their tomato soup!

I had some oyster crackers a few weeks ago from my 'stash' and I thought of you.  I could eat oyster crackers by the bucketful!
I've never gotten food on my underpants!

OMG, I have to stop coming back and reading this thread, all this talk about Queso has me missing our local Mexican place and their queso fundido. I could sit and eat it forever.

OMG government cheese!

When I was in my early 20's, I briefly lived in an area of CA that was considered to be so remote and cut off from the rest of the world (it was in a mountain canyon with only one access road) that the whole population received government staples each month. Cheese, flour, cornmeal, canned goods etc. I was never able to use it all and frequently gave it away to friends and family. I had completely forgotten about government cheese until now lol. Thanks for the flashback!  :)
