These are on the latest offer at Lidl, they are doing German foods this week - is this the type of thing you are looking for?
99p for 500grms

Oh, thanks for that - I do miss it from my days in Switzerland, I'll have to get over there! But it is definitely not the same as egg noodles. They're much denser. You normally boil these, then put them in a pan with some browned onions to cook a smidge further a brown a little, and add emmenthal cheese and either cook in the pan or bake.

You know egg noodles are dead easy to make, right?

It's just flour, eggs & salt. You just need the room to roll them out & somewhere to leave them out to dry (or hang them up to dry) once they've been rolled & cut into strips. My grandma used to make her own most of the time - homemade egg noodles are so good!  :)

I've made them before, but I'm pretty lazy & happy enough to settle for the egg tagliatelle on the whole.  :)

There's a tiny Russian/Ukrainian/Lithuanian/Latvian/Polish shop on Cornwall Road (which is more of an alleyish) near Waterloo Station that sells proper honest-to-goodness egg noodles. The shop's down in a basement, and it looks dodgy from the outside, but the selection is solid and the staff are friendly (though not all speak much English).

This is how I make spaetzle, which is basically a super dense egg noodle. It's super easy to make...too easy actually!  :-X

Glad I don't know how (or have the space to in my kitchen!) make them :) They are far too tasty!

Most grocery stores sell egg lasagna; I've been breaking them up into individual noodles. Not exactly the same, but much closer to what I'm used to!

oooh I will have a look next time we go to Aldi.  I made kielbasa the other day and coundn't find egg noodles, substituted farfalle and cooked them very shortly, just a tad  before al dente.  Not exactly the same flavor, but the texture was nearly perfect.

Woadgirl~ if no one else steps up, I will let you know the next time I go. The Aldi I go to is pretty far away and I usually only go every few months but I may need to do a pre Christmas booze run. ;)
