Personally, I'd rather have a piece of chocolate (darker the better) than a bowl of porridge with or without bananas.

 I lost about 60ish pounds over 2 years and kept it off for 12.  It wasn't hard to keep it off; I never counted calories and I never gave up any one food type.  

That's about 2.5 pounds/month, which is exactly what most experts say is the correct rate for sustained weight loss. Apparently you are gradually finding your natural weight.

I suppose I may be letting my own experiences with sugar affect my analysis. But I was darned near mainlining the stuff - a huge spoonful in my cups of tea (about 6 a day), numerous little chocolate coated mini roll thingies/Mcvities/etc. Plastic bins of mini chocolate chips muffins, those French croissant things with chocolate in them (pain au chocolat). Cheesecake, cheesecake bites, cheesecake pots....
