I didn't see any mention of the property report being required or anyone being refused because they didn't include one.  Include it if you wish but there's really no need.

So to confirm, in my current situation I am not the tenant. My mum is... it's a 3 bedroom house with currently 3 occupants.

How do I prove there won't be any overcrowding then?

MAA11 Adequacy of accommodation

The ECO’s judgement should be based on the evidence from the applicant. If the ECO is not sure of the credibility of the applicant, he / she should ask to see a letter from the owner of the property (which may be a housing authority, housing association, landlord or a building society).  This should confirm particulars of tenure and occupation of the dwelling, together with a description of the accommodation and, if rented, a copy of the lease.

The onus is on the applicant to provide confirmation that there is no objection to an additional resident moving into the accommodation.


The bits in bold is what is confusing. The only information I have is what I stated in the initial post:

-housing association have given permission via letter to my mum ( sole tenant)  for an additional occupant as it's a 3 bedroom house for 5 people
- tenancy agreement that states current occupants( which includes me)  and description of house (e. g. 3 bed rooms, living room etc.)

I don't have anythibg to prove that there won't be overcrowding, no floor plans, none of that stuff.

Based on this, you're all saying I don't need it?

The letter and the fact that you are on the tenancy agreement are all you need as proof. If you are listed on the tenancy agreement, you ARE a tenant. All they need to know is the number of people in the property and the number of bedrooms/living rooms... This is all stated on the tenancy agreement, so you need nothing else.

I have been on this forum for close to 8 years, I have seen hundreds of fiancé and spousal visas approved here... And I don't recall anyone including a property inspection report.

For what it's worth, I just applied at the end of August and received my visa at the end of September.  I will be moving into my in-laws' house.  I was approved without a housing inspection.  I simply stated the number of people who will be living in the house (4 + me when I arrive = 5) and the number of bedrooms (3).  There is a question in Appendix 2 about the number of bedrooms.  I also had my in-laws state the number of people and the number of bedrooms in their letter.  If you want more information on their definition of overcrowding, consult the Housing Act of 1985.

Hi all,

I decided to get a housing inspection done just for the peace of mind - all went well.

I was wondering whether I need to include any letter from my previous employer which fell into the 12 month period (Category B).

At the moment I have a payslip and bank statement showing the salary deposit for the relevant month (Sept 2013)..I imagine that's all I need but should I include a confirmation of end of employment letter for this employer?
