Hiya!
« on: March 04, 2022, 02:26:48 PM »
I'm from Sonoma County, California, moved temporarily to the UK before the 2020 election, later decided to make the move permanent. I have dual US/UK citizenship as I was born in the UK, British mother, GI father. We sold our California house & cars last year, shipped a small quantity of household goods and are now renting in Alnwick, Northumberland, after visiting different places in England and Wales. We're in the process of buying a plot with plans to build an eco-friendly home.... Oh, my, what a long process!
We (my husband and adult daughter) left the US due to politics, guns, CA wildfires, drought and rising temperatures. We are loving the footpaths, walkability of our small town, public transportation, scenery, birds, flowers, rain and green! We haven't bought a car but have rented a few times and have used trains and buses. We're retired and looking forward to life after Covid.

Welcome to the site. We love Alnwick and that whole area. We drove past it today on our way back from visiting family in Edinburgh.
Dual USC/UKC living in the UK since May 2016

Welcome!

I’m down in the south but in temporary housing while undergoing building works at home. We have a public footpath through the property. Been here 3 weeks and have only had one dry, non-gale-force-winds non-work day but it was so fun to go explore!  I’m only two miles from home but feels like a whole new world!

Also originally from California (but the Southern part). Been here since 2004; all over, but now Yorkshire based for the last decade. Welcome!!

You’ve chosen a very special part of the world to move to.
