I am preparing for my ILR application and currently hold a Tier 2 Visa. (Also should add that my husband is on a Tier 2 dependent visa and we'll apply for ILR together). One thing I've read about many times is the need for proof of residency and your relationship through documents spaced out every 3 months or so. How many of these do I need? I do have some things but they aren't always in both of our names? Would it be possible to do something simpler like tenancy agreements with a letter from our current and previous landlord (which covers the full five years of required residency) to support our application? I do have council tax bills and other bills or NHS letters, but I don't think I'd have enough to cover the full five years for every three months and have them for both of us--I'm terrible about saving mail!
Any advice is welcome as this is the only part of the application that really makes me nervous. The rest seems fairly straightforward.
Thanks!
UKVI is only really bothered about the past two years for relationship proof (mail addressed either jointly or individually from the same month). You want 3 items per year if joint, at 4 month intervals in an ideal world. If individual items, you'll want 6 items. If a blend of joint and individual, you get it. Personally, I'd through one item per year for the previous 3 years if this is the first application you've made since your initial entry visa (just your annual council tax statement would suffice).
Think of it this way:
You, as the Skilled worker, need to show you've followed the terms of your visa. This is shown by having continuously worked for your sponsor for the duration of your visa.
Your husband, as your dependent, needs to show that he's followed the terms of his visa. This is shown by having lived together (proof is via mail) for the duration of his visa.
Hopefully if you think of it like that, it'll make those niggles go away. Feel free to post what you have for documents showing you've lived together and we can give it a look and let you know if the spacing and amount will suffice.
