When to apply for FLR (M)

Hi everyone!

I can't seem to find a definitive answer here or anywhere else.
My husband moved here on a spouse visa 8th Dec 2019. We assumed we needed to apply for FLR by 8th June 2022, however his BRP has an expiry date of 24th August.
So, my question is, does his visa expire in June or August and therfore do we need to apply for FLR by the June or August date?

He just needs to apply before it expires in August. The earliest he should apply is 28 days before the 2.5 year anniversary of entry but doing that can, depending on factors such as whether priority is used, lead to you not having much time to apply for ILR. 

The earliest date he can apply is 11th May 2022 (28 days before 8th June)

The latest date he can apply is 24th August 2022 (the expiry date of his visa)

He can submit the online application at any time between those two dates.

Thank you so much! We were hoping to get back to the states early July and didn't want to have issues with the visa so we will apply as soon as we get back mid July so we don't have to cancel out trip if there are visa delays.
