ILR Document Scanning Extra Service Advice/Etiquette?
« on: July 12, 2022, 12:46:05 PM »
Hi everyone - quite unexpectedly I found a next-day Biometrics appointment a 3-hour drive away and snatched it up. I just submitted my priority application at 1 am so it's all moving really quickly now.

I have all  of my mail and required documents, but I was going to rely on some old scans of past passports and my lease, etc to use as I was gong to upload my own documents this time around.

With the appointment being tomorrow, I'm obviously too close to upload my own dox, so got their £50 document scanning service.

Can anyone who's done this part of the service advise me what it's like? I am wondering if it's going to be a situation where they do a 'quick' job of it, where they sort of know what's needed (e.g. I saw someone say they only did one page of the passport and not every page) - will I need to push back on what they do? Or will I just trust that they know what the system requires and go with it. Also how long did it take?

Last thing - Do you recommend I still do a covering letter? I don't have much to say or explain. The whole application felt eerily simple to me this time compared to FLRM.

Any advice or reassurance is greatly appreciated. I'm busy now gathering my original documents for the older stuff which is still mostly stacked up in my pile from 2.5 years ago!

Thanks in advance for your help! I've used so many of your posts to guide me with what mail months to get, how to get a priority spot and other things. :) THE best forum <3

Update post appt

Happy to report the appointment went smoothly!

She scanned everything I gave her but explained she was leaving some of the middle pages out of longer documents like my insurance mail and my full lease as they just need first and signature pages. Made sense to me.

She also just used my current passport and said because my first entry 5 years ago was on it that was all she needed

I got my approval email from Home Office during my 3 hour drive home!

Hi Jessmed3,

I don't know if you're still around on here or if others know, but was the 50 page limit on document scanning an issue?

I can see you've said they missed out middle pages etc., but I can't see how it's going to get it down to 50 pages, even if say they only scanned one page of each bank statement on the page where my salary goes in, especially if the pages of both our passports are scanned.

We don't have an unusual application and we are only using my salary evidence.

Every time I try to do something to make it a little easier or less worrying, the opposite seems to happen  ::)

With thanks,
Emily

Answering myself here - losing the plot  ;D

I've realised from Matt's reference document that with my sponsor passport just being ID they definitely wouldn't need all the pages of that one, which brings it more into the 50ish pages. Why is it so long to the 5th August, five years flew by and now two weeks is crawling  ::)

I feel you. I got an appointment for 4 August, and time just seems to be dribbling by 😭 I'm so excited to get the appointment done so I can distract myself by walking through the nearby Ikea while I wait for the response 🤣

Where's your appointment, Beth's is in Croydon. I'll probably drive over with her. Wonder what might be nearby us  :D

Mine is in Southampton, and there's an Ikea near-ish the train station. I've only been to Croydon once, for non-visa things, and I remember venturing around a giant Asian supermarket. No idea if it's anywhere nearby the appointment centre tho, but it was definitely cool 😊 but I'm also a food nerd

Hey Emily! Sorry I didn’t see this until today. I didn’t know anything about the 50 page limit - if there was one she didn’t mention it as she scanned my dox! Sorry I can’t be more helpful! Best of luck I am sure it will go great 😊
