Citizenship question
« on: October 13, 2023, 01:04:16 PM »
My wife applied for citizenship back in April, until yestedray we had heard nothing, then she gets the following e mail.

Dear Susan

Ref: xxxxx

We aim to process all applications within 6 months from the date submitted.  However, in certain circumstances this target is not possible. Following our assessment of your case, unfortunately it appears your application will not be processed within the 6 month target.

This is because your application raises exceptionally complex issues and we require further time to consider your case thoroughly and reach a decision.

Yours sincerely

Passports, Citizenship & Civil Registration

Now as far as I can tell hers should be pretty straightforward

She has ILR
We've been married almost 10 years (I'm British by birth)
She's a US citizen
She's been in the UK 6  1/2 years
She hasnt been out of the UK a great deal

So I can't figure out what the exceptionally complex issues could be, or is this just a standard e mail they send out when they're missing their own targets

Any ideas

My money is on the latter.

Sometimes results come not too long after this type of email. Hang in there.  :)

You were right, e mail arrived a weeks or so ago saying citizenship granted, ceremony this thursday 30 Nov.
Thanks to everyone who has helped with the whole process ( you know who you are) from initial entry, FLR(M), ILR and now citizenship.
