Want to trade?
« on: August 18, 2024, 11:16:29 PM »
I need a few standard B22 bayonet-style LED light bulbs, equaling roughly 100 watts each.  They are not easily available here and the E-27 Edison-screw adapters that I've found that fit my UK Ikea lamp make it impossible to use the shade that goes with it.  Am willing to send you something you might want  (food, etc, but cash, if you'd prefer that) from the USA in return for said light bulbs. Any takers?

I'll do it!

Can you find a link to the exact bulb you want?  I tried looking it up on Tesco and there where a lot of different options (https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/search?query=e22 )  Or find it on amazon.co.uk?

It looks very much like these https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/309377150

The 100 watt ones are fatter as they progress down towards the metal bit, and the Daughter says 100 watts is too strong for that lamp anyway, so these 60 watt bulbs should be good. I think we bought the one I have here (the dead one) in a hardware store in Glasgow, it's Phillips brand, but there's no info on it that I can see that says anything about size. I am pretty sure it's a "standard" bulb.  I'll transcribe what's written on it, below.

If you could get two "two-packs" of the Tesco ones and let me know the final cost with shipping, and what you'd want sent over from here, that would be great!

Thanks!!!!

From the bulb:

THANKS!  That lamp has been sitting, unused, in the corner for a couple of years now and it's either get it working or donate it to a charity. I rather like it, so I've got my fingers crossed.  Sent you a PM with contact info.  Really appreciate your doing the legwork on this!

How about this? It’s 75 wat equivalent.  Should work fine but I wanted to check

Hi. Thanks for doing this for us.  ;D

I'm not sure, actually. I know the 100 watt ones I see on the Tesco page are fatter towards the bottom, and so won't fit the lamp.  Maybe those 75 watt ones would do the trick. They seem closest to what I have here now.

Please let me know what I owe you for them and the postage, and/or what you want to have sent over in return.

I've bought you 2 of these, at a cost of £7.    Looks like the shipping w2ill be about £14.

The only thing I want is Cherry Sours, like this:  https://texassnax.com/products/cherry-sours?srsltid=AfmBOorZj86TdZUDbXs14anYkEj4qNbVoyblREEZfT8wpTfPKvI6Mmx_

They certainly don't have to be Buc-ee's brand, any kind is fine if they are the same thing.

If you tell me you are cool with that, I'll ship it this weekend.

Sorry to make this too complicated, but I just realized that I may not have bought you the exact ones you asked for.  I got you the ones that I said in the last post.  They are 60 wat equivalent but not as short and squat as the Tesco ones you sent through.  Not by much though.  Here's an actual picture

If these won't work, just shout and I'll take them back

It's worth a try. Actually, short-and-squat would have been problematic, so a bit taller and thinner is better!  Will source the cherry sours. (Sorry I didn't know sooner - we stopped at Buc-ees on our recent cross-country trip. That shop is... something else, I gotta say! I now have a Buc-ees mug, T-shirt, and plushy toy, among other things.)

Send it the cheapest way you can find, and PM me a mailing address for your candy.  And thanks again!

Great, I'll try to get it sent out today.  I agree, Bucee's is nuts.  I started off pretty sceptical since my kid was so excited about it becuase of Instagram or whatever, but now I am a fan!

They do make a decent brisket sandwich, too. As long as you get them to leave their "BBQ" sauce off it.

I just got a fantastic package from Nan D. full of cherry sours and Whoppers!  I even got some very political spices.

My life is complete.  Thanks a bunch Nan, you are the greatest.
