ILR timing Question and Life in UK
« on: November 07, 2024, 09:47:36 AM »
Hello everyone. I'm so grateful for all the help I've received from you over these years. On 3 March 2025, I'll have been in the UK for 5 years as the spouse of a UK citizen. I'm now on a FLR-M, which doesn't expire until June 2025, but I'd like to apply for ILR as soon as I can.

Questions: I understand that I can apply 28 days before 3 March 2025 (which I think is 3 Feb 2025), but assuming I apply via Super Priority, will the visa be granted BEFORE 3 March 2025, or will it not become effective until 3 March? (This is important to me because I have a trip to the USA planned for 10th March!)

Also: I'm 69 years old, so a Life in the UK test is not required, I understand. Does the application form have something that allows me to say something to that effect?

Is the Life in the UK test required for citizenship (which I intend to apply for soon after ILR)? If so, I suppose I might as well take the test before ILR.

Any advice and information would be most appreciated. Thanks so much!
