UK Citizenship Questions
« on: August 09, 2025, 04:53:15 PM »
Hi all! :) Hope you are all well.

My wife is in the process of applying for citizenship, we are most of the way through the form. Just had some questions.

1) When it talks about past visas, we have the dates for all (missing a reference number for one (FLR from 2019), it isn't on the PDF save of the visa application itself, and we spent hours searching old documents and emails and simply can't find it), is this a problem? Also with it asking if we had fingerprints taken for some of the visas, again, some we have the biometric date, some we don't. We would have saved all this information more carefully, had we thought we'd ever need it, but until now we've never been asked about that before.

2) With the referee form, does this appear later in the application? We are worried that we might get to a stage where we need it and don't have it yet and can't upload it because I have heard you only get once chance to upload documents (not sure if this is true) and want to get this prepared as much in advance as possible. I have found the forms online but these might be out of date.

I don't think it'll be an issue - just enter in the dates/information you do have and estimate the ones you're not sure of. You can always add a note on the application that you don't remember the exact dates/reference numbers.

I believe you will be given a link to the referee form when you complete the application. This will need to be printed, a passport photo attached, and then the referee will need to sign it.

I think that the referee form available online is still okay to use though.

You will also need to enter the referees' personal details on the online application form when you fill it out.

This is what we were thinking but wanted to check. Thanks so much for your help! :)

Hi all, sorry just one more question about this section of past visas.

My wife has never had a legal name change, but on one of the older visas it doesn't include her middle name on the application form (her middle name does on subsequent paperwork issued by UKVI following the visa). This must have been an oversight that we never noticed, though they knew her middle name I am guessing from her passport anyway. What we're wondering is, in the section that says "Name in which you made the application", should for that one we exclude the middle name and write exactly how it was in the application? We were thinking maybe just putting her full name- as it's never changed- and then in the cover letter saying that due to an oversight her middle name was missed on that application, though it never changed?

I think either way would be fine, as long as you include a quick explanation.
