ILR - question re qulifying period
« on: December 01, 2025, 09:28:57 PM »
Hello guys,

Is a 5-year spouse route for ILR calculated:

-   from the date when your first visa was issued?
        OR
-   from the date you first physically entered the UK?

My husband’s entry clearance was obtained on 24.06.21, but he arrived in the UK on 15.09.21. So, we are trying to figure out when he can apply for ILR.

Thank you.

It’s calculated from the date he arrived in the UK… so if he entered the UK on 15/09/2021, he will reach the required 5 years for ILR on 15/09/2026.

The earliest he can apply for ILR is 28 days before 15/09/2026, which will be 18/08/2026.

The latest he can apply is the expiry date of his current FLR(M) visa.
