But wait, there’s more
« on: December 08, 2025, 04:48:43 PM »
I’m still reeling from the news about KF Dancer.  But I do have my own update.

My cancer came back, this time in the other breast.  I’m having a double mastectomy on the 23rd of December.  Plus, my 41 year old daughter is on a clinical trial in the U.S. after being treated for breast cancer that had spread to her lymph nodes.  She’s had chemo, surgery, radiation, and now the trial.

I won’t know how bad mine is, until the pathology after surgery comes back.

Cancer sucks.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Katoo. And for your daughter.

My daughter used to work in a cancer center at a major research university and says they have some amazing projects in the pipeline, so our hope is that your daughter's trial goes well.

Good luck on your surgery. We'll light a candle for you on the 23rd.

How are you doing, Katoo? Procedure still on for next week?

Yes, I had my pre-op assessment appointment yesterday.  Everything is still a go.  I go in to nuclear medicine on Monday to get a tracer injected that will light up my lymphatic system to make sentinel nodes visible for extraction.  We are all ready.  I’m cooking Christmas dinner tomorrow.

Had successful surgery yesterday pathology will come back in a week or two, which will determine further treatment.  I’m already home, community nurse will be coming by twice a day to deal with drains and wound care.  I have pain. But it’s tolerable with paracetamol and the occasional codeine tablet.

So glad to hear you're doing well and that you are at home and not having to be in a hospital, and that your pain levels are not bad. Also happy to hear they're sending someone to look after your wounds and drains, too!

Fingers are crossed for good luck for your path!  Take care of yourself.

They removed one of the drains yesterday and the other one will likely be removed today.  That will be a huge relief and a lot more comfortable.  I’m doing okay, really.  I start physio in two weeks, and I should get the pathology report next week.
