The Ardeche region in France
« on: January 25, 2005, 04:25:00 PM »

Does anyone have any recommendations on canoeing in the Ardeche region in France?  We are planning our annual camping/hiking/climbing expedition (really it is  :o) to the Alps this summer and are planning a side trip to canoe in the gorge region in France.  Perhaps doing a 1-2 day trip.  In particular we are looking at Vallon-Pont-d'Arc.   Thanks in advance for any info.

Recommendation - GO THERE AND ENJOY.  I was lucky enough to stay in the village of Vagnas (about 10 km south of Vallon) for six weeks one hot summer in the early 1970s.   With a French family, helping with an archelogocal dig of a roman site.   We white water rafted down the riverf one day; I recall wondering what I was in for, but the loving it.
