Can I count these as steps?

I am trying to figure out how many steps I walk in a day. I picked up a pedometer today.  But I ride my exercise bike each day anywhere from 3-6 miles, depending on how long my sons naps. I did 4 miles today and it is equal to 8000 steps. Should I count these into my final total for the day with the pedometer, as I was moving?

Yeah!  I'd certainly count those "steps"!

But if you don't count those and still do 10,000 with your pedometer, you'd be that much better off!
