Mountain Dew or A&W Root Beer, 24 cans at 62p each
« on: February 10, 2005, 06:33:28 PM »
There was a new link submission last night, www.americansoda.co.uk, you might have seen it in the recent links on the sidebar at left, but I don't know if anyone pays attention to those or not. A few goodies that might interest folks, I will be after the Dew myself. ;D A case of 24 cans for £14.95, not sure on shipping charges yet.

Warning, the shopping cart system doesn't work so hot on Safari, try netscape or other if you're on a Mac.

Anyone use these folks at all yet?

he's really good... very quick, and his price includes the postage!  (or at least it did last time i bought from him...)

Ok, I am confused  ??? I am in the states so wouldn't need to order but I had to look when I noticed the price. Is that a typo on their website??? Some soda's say £4.95 for 24 cans while others say £14.95! Maybe I am mistaken... but is that really almost $30 for a case of soda?!!! If so, somebody is making some cash!!!  :o

Nope, it's not a typo.
£14.95 is the normal price for a case... the ones that are £4.95 are clearance items cos they are past their sell-by date.

If you come to the UK and insist on having American luxuries, you can expect to pay through the nose.  I think someone here saw a box of Apple Jacks in a shop for £7.00..... would that be nearly $14 for a box of cereal!?  :-X

I've seen Mountain Dew here more expensive than that (3-4x I think), which is why I haven't had a drink of it for years. It would only be an occaisional treat, and at a price that's more reasonable. Once you get here, and have been here a while, you stop thinking about what the cost is figuring the exchange rate, at least I have. I wouldn't pay £7 for a box of cereal. 62p for a can of drink is reasonable when you'll pay a pound at a vending machine for a drink in places.

62p per can is a great price for an imported soda. In fact, considering that American cans are 355mls while British cans are 50p for 330mls, it almost works out even ;)

The glory of the American soda can, where you get one more scoof

Ah, but there's nothing like The Dew.  Or a brown cow on a hot summer day.  :)

I have never been able to drink Dew and after years of not drinking it have gone off Root Beer.  My dad loves Dew (diet as he is diabetic) and I just can't drink it....

but yes.... if you convert things in your head you will go nuts... just think of it as what you would pay here.... even then somethings are just not worth it to some of us and some things are.... I mean a box of Nilla wafers is close to £4.50 here and if I converted that it would be $9... compared to the $2.30 it costs.... BUT if I think that that same £4.50 would buy me two beers or two packets of nice cookies or whatever, and I will get more enjoyment from the Nilla Wafers and subsequent banana pudding then it's worth it to me. ;D

Nilla's!  Mmmm.  Thanks for the reminder.  I'm getting a list together of foodstuffs for my sister to bring me when she comes across next month.

My daddy instilled a love in me of Nilla Wafer banana pudding, tomato sandwiches and banana sandwiches... did not work so well on the buttermilk and cornbread mush front though.. :P

They had good stuff there but some of it was a bit pricey.
