Just need a simple answer on timing.....
« on: February 11, 2005, 02:09:16 PM »
So, i move here sept 11, 2004.

Mid August 2006 i file for my ILR.
Q #1: How long does it take from filing to receiving?

After I get ILR, I apply for DCF to bring DH back to states as my husband.  This is more than 2 years after our wedding at this point.
Q #2 After getting ILR, can i start DCF right away or do i have to wait?
Q #3 How long does the process usually take?

I guess i'm trying to figure out if i'll have reason to stay here 3 years or not.  Due to my bonus structure, it would be best for us to stay for 3 years from yesterday....but if the process above only takes a few months, then it's doubful we'd do that.

Thanks.

You can get your ILR same day if you apply in person (with an appointment).

Getting your ILR in person by appointment is £250 or by post which I think is £150-155... that takes longer and I am not sure what the timeline is...I think it varies depending on their work load.

As for the DCF to get your husbands US visa....from what people have said recently it seems you have to be married and living here for at least a year or a bit more...its a gray area that no one seems to sure about. Some people are saying two years before you can use the DCF. I would call the Embassy to see if you can get a better answer. As for the timeline, again it varies depending on their workload but the average seems to be 3-6 months.  I think 3-4 is what its been of late.

Best of luck to you guys!  ;)
