Buffalo Wings in London?
« on: February 11, 2005, 03:08:17 PM »
This sounds crazy but since I've been on this forum I start remembering more and more the little things about life in the US. Lately, I'm really missing bar food, especially buffalo wings! I know most of American eating places are somewhere up north and west in London ... does anyone have recommendations for places to go?

I'm no expert on Buffalo wings being a vegetarian but my hubby is and he really liked some that he had at Henry J. Beans in Camden.

Is it a pub, bar or restaurant?

It's a casual dining type place with a bar and pool tables.

I've been able to get buffalo wings - the problem is getting bleu cheese dressing with them.

I so miss bleu cheese dressing!

If you can get Franks red hot suace anywhere you can make your own with that and butter.  I like the tenders myself ;D

I did find bleu cheese dressing in Sainsbury's - their own brand.  It was so good I had it all eaten in a week... ::)

Home made bleu cheese is easy peasy. Measurements are approx:

for 2 salads or 2 sevings wings (depending upon how much you eat with your wings)

1 cup mayo (I use lite but wouldn't use super lite)
about 2 Tbsp milk
1/4 tsp garlic granules
1/2 tsp coarsely ground pepper (I don't use fresh as I find that too chunky for a dressing)
shake or 2 lemon juice or a lite squeeze of fresh
about 1/2 - 3/4 c crumbled bleu cheese

Thin the mayo with the milk to the consistency you like. Add the milk in small dribbles as you may prefer yours thicker than I do. Of course you can add more if you want it thinner. Add a shake or 2 of lemon juice, the garlic granules, and pepper. Taste and adjust as needed. If it's too garlicky or peppery for you, add more mayo. I like very chunky dressing with lots of cheese. Add yours as you see fit.

Enjoy!

BTW, wings can also be done with Tobasco sauce, red pepper, and butter.

I usually get Hellmans. I've never tried any of the store brands here....
