Found! Weetabix in the US.
« on: February 13, 2005, 02:32:57 AM »
I had been getting our Weetabix from the World Market, but always felt a bit guilty since it was so expensive. THen today while shopping at Super Target I found Weetabix! It is packaged in US packaging, the box is different, they explain how it is a healthy popular cereal in the UK, and they even have 4 photos on the back of the box showing you different ways how you can eat it! Best news though, it is $3.50 or so for a big box of 24 which is WAAAAY cheaper than at World Market, so whee for us! Baby Philip can now have his daily weetabix without having to suffer a gilty-faced mommy. :)

I'm done moving. Unrepatriated back to the UK, here for good!

I don't know where you live in the US, but when I lived in Rhode Island, I had no trouble finding Weetabix. It was just on the shelves in the regular cereal aisle -- and looked just like British Weetabix in terms of packaging. Our local Stop & Shop (do you have them where you are?) also had a British Foods section with other yummy things I loved to stock up on. Maybe it's a regional thing. Perhaps New England sells more foods from Old England?

That could be because there's such a large British Community in New England.   :)  When we lived in Worcester MA we had TONS of friends who were British and Shaws carried alot of British groceries.  And that was 15-20 years ago.    :)

Very true Mindy!  When I was living in the Boston are, my Star Market carried loads of British foods!  I remember coming home from my first trip to England and finding crunchie bars in the candy aisle.

Most Kroger Signature grocery stores now have a British food section.  They have Weetabix!  They also usually biscuits, sauce mixes, tea, chocolate, squash and a random assortment of other things.

I'm in Texas and we have them all over here.  I go there almost weekly to get my apple blackcurrant squash. :)

You can locate a store on the web site...  its the "Signature" stores that you'll need to look for... I think they are just a tad bit more upscale and offer lots of ethnic foods.

Yeah, the english contingent in missouri isn't huge, so it is always a real bonus to fine british things here! :)

Marlespo, if you ever get really desperate for British things there is a store in Lawrence, Kansas called Brits (www.britsusa.com) that may be worth the trip.

S,

Do they have the Fresh Fields grocery store chain in the Midwest (you're probably familiar with it from the East Coast). They have a lot of products you wouldn't expect in the States (at least the ones in Virginia did).
